He couldn’t shake the feeling she was hiding something from him. Otherwise, how could she be truly set against reconnecting, although her response to his touch remained the same? Being buried inside her was like a little piece of heaven, he never thought he’d get again. This time—he resolved to not fuck it up. And really aside from his one lie, his one deception, they were a perfect fit in every way.
Careful not to wake her, he rolled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. He needed a shower and to find them some food. Stepping to the dresser, he opened the drawers for a fresh set of clothing, choosing a T-shirt and basketball shorts. Since Ryker copped the master bedroom with a full bathroom, he was forced to share with Chandler. Rees, Quinlan and Sinclaire took possession of the added bathroom off the media room on the bottom floor. For the most part, the trio lived at her place. Their living situation couldn’t be more perfect. When Dire married Mia, he rented out his house to them super cheap. They kept everything in working order, made updates and had a chance to relax.
He turned to get his fill of Ailyn in his bed before leaving the room. The wheels in his head spun as he tried to figure a way to ensure she returned to it every night he had off if possible, or close to. She turned over and spread her legs out, taking up the middle of his bed, murmuring in her sleep. The image brought a smile to his face. Padding across the wood flooring, he slipped out of his room.
“Lover boy is finally awake.”
“Ha. What are you doing, stalking my room?” He brushed past Chandler, into the open bathroom.
“Nah, just getting ready to head out on a date. It’s good to see you with someone who’s more your type.”
“Yeah, well. I gotta get clean and feed Ailyn. See you later?” He rarely saw his friend dressed in anything but jeans and a T-shirt or athletic shorts.
“Of course. My date won’t last all evening. She wants to go to some festival so off I go to please her.”
“Now I see why you’re all dressed up. The things we do. Hope it’s music.”
“Nah, arts and crafts, local artists, food vendors. I wasn’t that lucky.” He chuckled. Chandler waved off and he stepped into the bathroom, placed his clothing on the small bench by the window, turned the hot water dial for the shower and stepped in. As he soaped up, his mind wandered back to all things Ailyn. What had she been doing the past ten years, why wasn’t she married with two or three kids, a perfect house and family pet? His dick lurched at the thought of his seed taking root in her womb.
Last night wasn’t enough. It took all his will to allow her to sleep, when all he wanted to do was roll her lush body over and take his time rousing her from her deep slumber. He would give anything for the first sound out of her mouth to be a husky moan instead of questions. Damn if there wasn’t a sexier image of her mouth doing things other than speaking.
Closing his eyes, he gave into the fantasy of Ailyn’s perfect mouth over his dick. With long slow strokes, he palmed his cock, building his way to a blinding orgasm. In his mind, she looked up at him as she swallowed him to the back of her throat. He tightened his grip, stroking with fevered passion, the vein on his shaft pulsating against his fingers. Dripping soap added to his pleasure, making the glide smoother, the sluicing water creating an added tease, as streams trailed down his body, over his cock and down his balls. Seth added more soap and widened his stance. He leaned his shoulders against the tiled backsplash to buck his hips as he stroked, teasing the glans, using his other hand to massage his heavy balls. Ropes of semen shot out hitting the glass door. Still hard, he milked his cock and groaned as another spray shot out.
As his heart rate decelerated, he ran a soapy cloth over his body and dick, stroking from balls up, cleaning the slit clear, and then stopping to enjoy the hot water raining over him. A knock on the door prompted him to step out. Dripping water all over the floor, he swung open the door.
“What?”
“Don’t take all the hot water, asshole.” Quinlan looking rather irritated, topped off his afternoon.
Seth chuckled. “Never a damn moment of privacy. Use Ryker’s fucking bathroom.”
“It’s occupied, Ryker has company.”
Seth sighed. “Then get in the shower with your boyfriend and girlfriend.” Some days, he wished the trio of love wouldn’t interrupt his life. “I don’t know how you two handle sharing each other and one woman.” He ran a hand through his damp hair. Thank God for extra soundproofing. After two weeks of living together, they’d decided to soundproof the bedrooms for privacy and spent their days off accomplishing the task.
“Can’t, it’s his turn. We make it work, but hell, I just want to take a damn shower so hurry the fuck up. Just make sure I don’t step on a wad of jizz when I get in, you fucker.”
“Would I do that?” He threw over his shoulder as he headed back in.
Seth pulled down the removable showerhead and ran his cloth over the glass door. “You prissy fuck, it’s all clean now.” He turned off the water and attached the showerhead back into place.
“Good. So I heard things went well for you last night. She’s cute, you should keep her around.”
“She’s off limits, Quin.” He braced himself on the sink and looked good and hard in the mirror at himself. “I’ll be out in a few.” Seth dried off, brushed his teeth, then shrugged into his shorts. When he opened the door, Quinlan entered with all his supplies.
“You know we built the extra one so it was two to a shower.” He slung a towel around his neck.
“Shit happens.” Quinlan threw his discarded clothing at him before slamming the door in his face. Amused, Seth ambled down the hallway to his room and opened the door to find Ailyn sitting cross legged on the bed texting furiously.
“Evening.” She didn’t look up as she chewed her lip gauging what to type next. A troubled sigh escaped the mouth he so desperately wanted to kiss, but knew to tread lightly to avoid scaring her off. In hindsight, glancing over at her wasn’t a good idea. She paused in her texting, tucked her hair behind her ears and looked up at him.
“Hi,” she returned as he approached, hiding her phone from him.
He threw caution to the wind and leaned down to capture her lips with his. She tasted like sunshine and sweet candy. Turning her head away, she broke off the kiss, dropping her gaze to the phone to avoid him.
“I-I’ll be done in a second.”
Seth ran fingers through his wet hair. Yep, this was going to take some work. He dropped his dirty clothes in the hamper on the other side of his room and returned see her slipping her phone in her purse.
“Everything all right?”
“Yeah. Just my sister being super nosey. I, uh, met some of the guys earlier. I can’t believe you all share a house and work together.”
“We’re a team so we’re already close. We do almost everything together. This makes perfect sense. Some of the guys are saving to buy their own spots when the time is right. I guess once we’re all settled the last one here will probably buy this from Dire.”
“That’s nice that he gave up his spot for Mia.”
“You know Mia?” She froze at his reaction to her knowing Mia, and questioning her. A wall slid down but not before he caught a glimpse, as she tucked her hair behind her ears.
“Yeah. I ran into her when I moved into town and we sort of hit it off.
“Interesting.”
“Not really, I mean. Think about all the places you can run into someone. I’m a teacher, I’m at all kinds of educational events, the library, then there’s the grocery store, the popular bar, various restaurants.”
“Which place did you meet her at then?”
“I think the store. But this is boring, let’s talk about something else.” Ailyn flashed an annoyed look his way, bit her lip and dropped her gaze from his.
Knowing she lied to his face was out of character for her, so he let the subject go. Lucky for him, he knew Mia told her husband everything. He’d find the answers he wanted by asking Dire later on. “What w
ould you like to do tonight? I tossed your clothes from last night in the washer. I figured you’d want out of my shirt, although it’s sexy on you. If you need a pair of shorts, you can grab a pair of boxers out of my drawer.”
Her face turned all kinds of shade red as a nervous smile turned her soft lips up. “I’m not sure I want to go out…out. Maybe we could go find a movie or something and order in.”
“How about pizza and beer. We have a wide selection of movies in the media room. If you don’t want those we can streamline a new release through the cable box.”
“Canadian bacon—”
“And pineapple on thin crust,” he interrupted, remembering her favorite specialty pizza. Her eyes widened and she laughed. He found the musical sound as pleasing as her moans of pleasure when she writhed under him, begging for more. Seth cleared his throat and reached for the handheld on the nightstand, then tapped speed dial number four. He ordered a large Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza, and one fully loaded pepperoni. Out of the corner of his eye, he spied Ailyn slipping from the bed and moving over to his drawer to pick out a pair of loose boxers. He rather liked the imagery of her with nothing but a T-shirt on.
“How am I supposed to play with you with those on?” He hung the phone on the hook and stalked over to her, enjoying the byplay of emotions cross her face. He saw the woman he knew at one time better than she did herself peek out from the mask she attempted to erect.
“You’re not. I mean surely you didn’t want me to parade around a house full of males in nothing but your shirt.”
Seth wrapped his arms around her and lifted her around his waist. “My name stretched across your back is sexy on you,” he whispered in her ear, nipped her lobe with his teeth and let go. Her heated core leeched against his abdomen.
Ailyn rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to speak. But he swept in and sucked her bottom lip into his mouth then released it to slip his tongue inside. He cradled the back of her head in his palm, commanding obedience as he stroked his tongue over hers. She let out a soft moan and leaned into his kiss, trading control. When he had her breathless, she drew away, a frown puckering her eyebrows.
“You can’t just kiss me when you don’t want to hear what I have to say.”
“Why not?” He carried her through the doorway, and down the hall. His eyes never leaving hers as he navigated.
“Because, firstly, it’s rude and secondly, who said I wanted to be kissed so much. Then there’s we haven’t talked yet and…and…”
“Darlin’ maybe I keep kissing you because unlike you, I don’t feel the need to dredge shit up. Let’s get to know one another in the here and now. All thinking of the past does is make you run from me.”
“I do not run. I choose not to be somewhere I’m not comfortable. There’s a difference.”
“Look at it this way.” They crossed the living room, he received questioning glances from the occupants. “Guys and Sinclaire, this is Ailyn. We’re going to go have date night in the media room and no, that’s not an invitation to join us. Holler down when the pizza arrives.”
“Hi,” she replied as he stepped through the room and led them down the stairs.
“Now, what was I saying? Oh yeah, tomorrow when you leave you’ll have all the time in the world to overthink this weekend.”
“I don’t overthink everything.”
“Really, then what are you not telling me. I have this distinct gut feeling you are not being fully honest with me.”
“I am not hiding anything.” She turned her face away with the pretense of looking at the luxurious room. “This is fabulous. Oh! You have single reclining chairs.”
“You can sit on my lap.” Seth dropped into the leather seat, making sure not to trap her legs.
“I think you forget, I’m the teacher. I’ll sit where I damn well like.” She pushed off his chest and slipped off him. He didn’t miss the way her body trembled as she slipped off his body.
“Comedy, action, romance or horror.” He brushed off the effect of her dismount as she plunked into the seat next to him.
“We don’t need any romance in here.” She pushed at him with her feet while giving him the teacher stare with her sweet saucy tone.
“Comedy it is then.” She obviously forgot who led men and women daily. He licked his bottom lip and watched her eyes widen and nostrils flare. The new dynamic racing between them would be fun to play with. She melted for him earlier, her need too strong to deny what still pulsated between them. He couldn’t wait to make her burn again.
While she struggled to fight their attraction and put limits on it, he rose and walked over to the DVD cabinet. After surfing through the comedies, he picked an action comedy and romance, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, figuring the byplay between the characters was a close match to theirs. More than anything, he wanted to see her sucked out of her comfort zone. He popped the movie in and drug her feet over his lap. When the menu screen came up, she snapped her eyes in his direction. He shrugged and lightly trailed his hand over her dainty manicured feet.
“Really? This is so not a comedy.”
“Of course it is, and action. Shit blows up.”
“I’m so picking the next movie. You’ve just been fired as movie picker.” She removed the arm rest divider, shifted her body and turned to lay her head in his lap. “Behave.”
The door opened and Ryker came down carrying their pizzas, beer and a Sprite. “Thank God, you’re not fucking. Here’s your food and some drinks. Figured Ailyn would want soda since she’s still recovering. Sweets, if you need anything else just holler. Boss, you can get your own shit the rest of the night.” Ryker flashed a dimpled grin, dropped the fare off on the table and darted back up the stairs.
“Lord, he has some dangerous dimples. How is it that there aren’t round the clock parties here?”
Irritation warred with him. She had no qualms complimenting his friends or staring.
“Oh we have some parties, but mainly just with close friends. We tend to try to keep the firemen chasers away.”
“Is that a fancy term for firemen groupies? Do you really have those?”
“Yes to both. The worst are the ones you save who have this hero worship syndrome going on. It’s harder to break away from those emotionally invested. Number one rule, never date someone you’ve saved.”
“Must be hard to date then, I can imagine the population you all save is pretty high.” She rose and sat next to him, accepting a slice of pizza and her Sprite. “Oh, I have a cup holder, nice.”
Seth folded his slice in half and wolfed it down in a few bites. He chuckled at her slack jawed expression and grabbed himself another slice.
“Hungry?”
“Always.” The double entendre wasn’t lost on her as a cute blush spread across her face. With a chuckle, he twisted the cap off his bottleneck beer with his T-shirt, and drew a swig in between bites. “You ready for this?” He pressed play, lifted the armrest barrier she’d put back between them and hauled her back over to him as the beginning credits rolled.
There’s something about a good romantic comedy to set the pace. At least he thought so. The other movie he chose, she’d like. It’d been the one they saw on their first movie date—one she’d watched multiple times when it came out on DVD. Although she professed to hate his choice, her infectious laughter told him otherwise.
“What’s so funny?”
“There is something infinitely enjoyable about seeing a woman take control and not take shit from any man. He’s ready to kill her and she appears unaffected. It’s sexy how she drives him crazy and he can’t do anything but follow her lead.”
“I just like shit that blows up and how they’re trying to off each other but deep down know they can’t.”
“And I thought you picked this movie to make out with me.” When he gifted her with a wolfish smile, she punched his arm and drew back, shaking her sore hand.
“Those are made of steel, darlin’.” He took her broken hand and brought it to
his lips. “You should be more careful.” He nuzzled her skin and placed a kiss on each knuckle. She flushed a pretty shade of pink, and snatched her hand away, but not before he skimmed over her bounding pulse.
“We’re watching the movie.” She leaned forward and grabbed a second slice of pizza. She took small bites, pretending to be too interested in what was happening on the TV.
“You know we could’ve gone out, if you’re uncomfortable down here. Alone. With me. We still can.”
Ailyn regarded him with a perplexed expression written across her face and shook her head. Taking another sip of her soda, she returned her stare to the screen, shutting him off from her.
“Or just sit right here and watch movies.” What did I say wrong?
“If you want to go out tonight, I can go home. You don’t have to babysit me.” Her acerbic dose of bullshit left him at a loss, struggling with how to respond without further pissing her off.
“Come here.” He opted for a simple command, not at all surprised when she failed to comply. Ailyn proceeded to wipe her greasy hands off on his boxers and cross her arms.
With a guttural growl, he plucked her from her closed off safe zone and planted her firmly on his lap, facing away from him. She struggled against him and then stilled as he swept his hand into his boxer shorts, grazing her beautiful body. The hottest scene in the movie flashed across the screen. Bumps pebbled across her skin as sexual tension ramped between them. He could hear the static sound of a breaking transformer arc between them. Grasping the elastic, he peeled his boxers down off her hips, and cupped her bare mound.
“What are you doing?” She moaned, her hands gripping the leather.
“Giving you what you need. Your choice, bareback or covered. And yeah, I’m clean.” He lifted his hips and drew down his shorts. His throbbing cock rested between the globes of her perfect ass. He reached over and grabbed a condom from the stash he’d brought with him.
